Season’s Greetings From The BLDG

Posted in Walls by BLDG on December 17, 2010

Just in time for the holiday rush we had a very special little helper swing by the studio. Though not quite tall enough to pull her first print, she still manages to put our squeegee’s in the darndest of places.

San Francisco Inspired

Posted in Walls by BLDG on October 21, 2010

It was an amazing few days in San Francisco. I was thoroughly impressed by the new space from White Walls Gallery. Their debut show featured the artwork of Mike Shine. It was a visual roller coaster of amazing work. This one is well deserving of a tip of the hat.

“Turkey Hill” Print Release

Posted in Walls by BLDG on August 19, 2010

It has been a while since I have released a print of my own. I decided to take a step back from the squeegee and get in touch with my inner artist. Oddly enough, there was whiskey involved…lots of it. I decided to produce a series of prints in which I physically incorporate my subject matter into the print. For this first print titled “Turkey Hill” I mixed 101 proof Wild Turkey bourbon into each color. A pint of whiskey and a few shots later I had the first print in the series. The print is a 5 color edition of 40 printed on 290 gsm cotton paper and will be available 8/25/10 for $35. For all those who are wondering, yes this print does in fact smell and taste like whiskey.

Vhils

Posted in Walls by BLDG on August 6, 2010

Vhils has quickly become a crowd favorite in my book. I think what really catches my eye is when people push the process. Vhils takes a pretty classic stencil cut technique and puts his own personal spin on it. He incorporates nature and other found elements into his color palette. He even carries these principles into his screen prints, which often times include bleach as one of the colors. I think this video really sums up Vhils style and approach to his art.

Book ‘Em Alexander

Posted in Walls by BLDG on August 5, 2010

I first came across Alexander Korzer-Robinson while attending the festivities at art Basel in Miami. He was a real prime time player and stood out from the crowd. His work is mesmerizing, it literally draws you in. I’ve recently seen his work start to crop up in galleries around the world. Keep your eye on this guy.

The London Police Print Available Today!

I’ve been a big fan of TLP for a while now. I was even more blown away when I had a chance to see their process in person. The little thumbnail really does not do this print justice. I tip my hat to the fellas in Amsterdam.
