Anti-Banksy Campaign

Posted in Walls by BLDG on January 20, 2010

A new(ish) anti-Banksy campaign “Kill Banksy” has been running on a couple trains in the southeast of London (as seen below)

It’s a bit ironic that this writer “allegedly” hates Banksy, but the only reason his tags are getting noticed, is because of Banksy. I suppose anti-“anything popular” campaigns just get piggy-backed off the popularity of the original campaign anyway. If you really want to “Kill Banksy” I’d think you’d be better off attempting to be more clever, more witty, more ballsy and a better street artist than he is and you’ll rise above him, whilst pushing him into the shadows… i.e. Banksy & Blek Le Rat. Just a thought.

i have a love for street art and i really dont understand why Banksy would go over a piece that has been riding for what like 15 years or something? Yes Robbo’s piece may not of been the dopest shit out there or even dope for Robbo himself but i do think it was showing a little disrespect, i guess they had some beef in the past or something…regardless i do find the beef to be comical so carry on lads!

…PS. This is not the first time Banksy has went over someone in the graffiti world is it? I come across some Banksy/graffiti writers war in the past just did not get to involved in the search…

      That’s a good point I think.

Though I also think at some point, going over someone else’s piece “could” potentially be a way of the community telling that artist to up their game. The same way that no one buying a print tells that artist to up his/her game… either way, definitely an enjoyable feud to watch play out.

I guess it is for the good. It seems to have “king” Robbo getting up out of his la-z-boy and hitting the streets…takes me back a couple of years seing the TA and IOK beef here on the Cinci streets…so enjoyable! But you can’t touch Blek and Banksy, dig the vibe baby!
…..i do dig that D-face avatar, jealous much.

i think its a little ironic that a street artist would try and get his name out there by bashing another more iconic street artist. I agree with Justin on this, blek and banksy cannot be stopped, so stop whining and do something more related to creating your own style.
